Identification
NameCatabolite repression protein CAT5
Synonyms
  • Coenzyme Q biosynthesis protein 7
  • Ubiquinone biosynthesis protein COQ7
Gene NameCAT5
Enzyme ClassNot Available
Biological Properties
General FunctionCoenzyme transport and metabolism
Specific FunctionCentral metabolic regulator required for the derepression of PCK1, and thereby gluconeogenesis. Necessary for transcriptional activation of the CAT8 gene. Also involved in the control of expression of other enzymes of gluconeogenesis and those of respiration and the glyoxylate cycle. Also involved in one or more monooxygenase steps of ubiquinone biosynthesis
